En un momento en el que el debate sobre los usos y propiedades de la marihuana está más candente que nunca, Ed Rosenthal, Dale Gieringer y Tod Mikuriya nos obsequian con el Manual médico de la marihuana. En este libro, de una manera sencilla y amena, se compendian los conocimientos médicos actuales sobre el cannabis y se explica cómo uno se puede autoabastecer de esta planta.
Tras miles de años de usos médicos, la ONU decidió, a instancias de las potencias occidentales, que el cannabis no tiene usos medicinales. Hoy en día, médicos y pacientes claman por su normalización. Entre esos médicos, uno de los más notables es el Dr. Tod Mikuriya, autor de 'Marihuana: informes médicos' y director de investigaciones sobre marihuana del Instituto Nacional de Salud Mental de los EE.UU. en 1967, entre otras muchas actividades y obras. El Dr. Dale Gieringer, por su parte, es coordinador de la Organización Nacional de California para la Reforma de las Leyes sobre Marihuana (NORML) y autor de numerosos estudios sobre los efectos del cannabis.
Firma con ellos este manual Ed Rosenthal, autor de varios de los libros más vendidos acerca del cannabis, entre ellos el 'Manual para el cultivo de la marihuana', que durante veinte años ha sido libro de cabecera de los cultivadores españoles.
La marihuana es, con toda seguridad, la droga menos tóxica y de más amplio espectro disponible para la Humanidad. Esta recomendada para artritis, insomnio, glaucoma, anorexia, síntomas del SIDA, efectos secundarios de la quimioterapia, dolores crónicos, espasmos, y muchas otras dolencias, sin la mayoría de efectos secundarios producidos al tratar estos males con otras drogas. Es curioso observar cómo, tras miles de años de experiencia clínica, sin que se haya registrado jamás una muerte achacable a su uso, esta medicina permanece prohibida mientras son legales la aspirina, que sólo en EE.UU. en el año 1994 causó 2.000 muertes, o la penicilina, que fue aprobada tras sólo media docena de experiencias.
Como dice el propio Ed Rosenthal, 'el aspecto más dañino y peligroso de la marihuana es la regulación gubernamental. Las leyes que prohiben el uso de la marihuana con fines médicos constituyen un castigo cruel y poco usual, que se inflige a las víctimas de las enfermedades. No sólo amenazan a la seguridad y la salud de la gente, sino que limitan la disponibilidad de la misma y mantienen altos sus precios. En un momen
